Did you know that over 20,000 bikes got thrown into the canal last year? They also refurbish them and resell them to the public. Practically, noone owns a new bike here because their life expectancy is less than 3 months.
Oh this building has an interesting story. This building has been used for many things over time. First, it was used as a gate to the city when it was first established. Originally, there were walls around the entire city connecting between the two towers on the side of this building. All shipments and people had to go through this to get in and be taxed. Later the large side wing was used as an autopsy wing. Specifically, they chopped peoples heads off at a spot about where I'm standing and then they took them to the doctor to get an autopsy. Why?!? Not a clue. Pretty sure they knew the cause of death and that it was just a formality. This is also where Remembrant did that painting of the guy duying. I don't remember what it's called at the moment but its one of the worlds top ten most famous paintings. Lastly, the fourth tower (which you can't see) is used for some secret guild meetings. Apparently it is really hard to form this particular type of arch, where only one pebble holds up an entire arch. If it were removed the arch would fall. Anyways, to get into this guild you had to know the password which was basically a demonstration of how to do this. Talk about WEIRD!!!
Scrumptious pancake I at for dinner. It had apples and cinnamon and don't worry... I'll maybe share the recipe once I figure out how to make them myself. haha.
